I am a journalist, editor and producer, currently based in Sydney, Australia. I’ve reported from Australia, the Pacific, the United States and Middle East, and my work has appeared in the New York Times, The Guardian, Foreign Policy, The Observer, the Sydney Morning Herald and more.
Right now, I am a staff reporter for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s weekly investigative show Background Briefing. I’ve also worked at the ABC’s Four Corners program.
I was previously the editor of The Saturday Paper, one of Australia’s leading national weekend newspapers, and before than was a features editor at Vice.
I’ve served as a judge for major literary awards, including the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards, the New South Wales Literary Awards and the Horne Prize. I also frequently host live events, including at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Writers' Festival and more.
